Being on one's own

For the first time in months...there is no one here. No Hockey-Sock and Sophie climbing over the keyboard, playing with the cursor. They have gone to their new home and I miss them more than I expected. Larry is in Nanaimo at a conference. Tristan has moved out - with the cats. Bighair is in Georgia. So, tick-tock-tick-tock, I can hear everything. In my world, silence is rare. Best heard during the swim or run. Not sure I like it now.

Poor baby! You weren't all alone, you had all those parents at the meeting. Relish the silence. There is ample shouting in the world.

Did Stripey and Coco go too?

Next time: take a long, lazy bubble bath. Read a trashy novel. Cruise the many highways of the 'Net. Go visit a friend. Play your piano. Write to your mother. Paint your toenails and take arty pictures of them. Cruise downtown and tell your students you're just checking up on them. Maybe they'll want to hang with you. :)
